Dr. Edward “Pete” Petrik, MD, FMCP-M, is a board-certified physician and functional medicine practitioner with over a decade of clinical experience. As the founder of Arkum Medical Associates in the Greater Austin area (Round Rock/Georgetown, Texas), he leads a practice dedicated to root-cause, integrative approaches that address imbalances to slow aging, minimize chronic disease risk, and combat inflammation.His comprehensive services emphasize personalized functional medicine, including advanced nutritional counseling, functional genomics testing, hormonal optimization, gut microbiome analysis, organic acids testing, and targeted therapies such as nutrient supplementation, injectables, and evidence-based treatments for skin, face, and body rejuvenation. He completed his anesthesiology residency at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine through Baylor Scott & White Health in Temple, Texas, where he served as House Staff President.Following residency, he remained on staff at Baylor Scott & White and joined the Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System as senior staff and site director for the anesthesiology residency program. He also pioneered the surgical intensivist program in the VA's ICU, delivering critical care alongside anesthesia services.A distinguished veteran, Dr. Petrik graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard as a C-130 pilot and F-16 flight surgeon, retiring in 2019.Committed to lifelong learning, he holds certification from the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFMCP) and continues advanced training through IFM and the Kalish Institute. He collaborates with medical spas and clinics across the Austin region to deliver holistic, patient-centered care that empowers individuals to optimize health and vitality.
