he Blend Institute is a culmination of over 40 years of experience by the cofounders Tim Blend, M.D. and Kim Blend A.R.N.P.
After graduating Ross University Medical School, Dr. Blend completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Downstate Medical Center & Kings County Hospital Center. He then completed a fellowship in Emergency Medicine at Bellevue and NYU hospitals. He continued as member of the teaching staff in the Emergency Department at both Bellevue and NYU hospitals for 2 years before moving to New Hampshire where he practiced emergency medicine for 7 years. Desiring the climate of Florida he and his family moved to Bradenton in 1993 where he continued to practice Emergency Medicine at Manatee Memorial Hospital. His interest in nutrition took a serious turn in 1997 when he completed a certification through the American College of Nutrition (ACN). He and his wife, Kim then opened there first Integrative Medicine practice, at that time focusing on nutrition, age management and psychiatry. Further investigation convinced him that to optimize maximum health or lifespan, hormone therapy would need to be an integral part of the process. As a result, he completed a fellowship in Anti-Aging and Regeneration Medicine and is now Board Certified in that specialty.
After years of study and working closely with Kim whose focus is psychiatry they have evolved their practice of medicine into one of the most unique services, allowing them to make people truly feel and look better, where other practitioners have failed.
Kim Blend ARNP completed her undergraduate in nursing and nutrition from the University of Vermont. She practiced Intensive Care Nursing at Massachusetts General Hospital then moved to New York after meeting Tim and continued to practice at New York University in open heart recovery and ICU.
Kim then took several years off to raise their three beautiful and successful children; Nicole, Morgan and Hayley. Desiring to return to medicine she completed a Master’s of Science degree and Nurse Practitioner program in psychiatry/mental health at the University of South Florida. She remained on staff at USF teaching psychiatry and leadership in the nursing program but ultimately desiring patient care she opened her practice along with Tim in 2002.
Her career has also evolved, realizing pharmaceuticals were not the only answer in psychiatry she began further study on the use of neurotransmitter testing in the treatment of mood disorders and anxiety. She currently teaches and lectures nationally facilitating other clinicians in their quest to learn this cutting edge practice for Neuroscience Inc.
Together with their extensive background and training in traditional medicine they have been able to utilize the enormous amount of evidence based medicine to be fully acknowledged by mainstream medicine and incorporate this into a truly unique practice that “gets people better”.”Kim and Tim see a variety of patients from the very healthy wanting to maintain and continue to improve quality of life to the patients who seek alternatives to a long list of pharmaceutical medications and a poor quality of life.
